Bro. James Wright began his Christian walk at the age
of twelve in a Vacation Bible School where he accepted
Jesus as his personal savior. However, as James got
into his teenage years, he began to get more involved with
his peers and things they were doing. He eventually
became much less involved in church and what God was
trying to do with his life.
In August of 1989, at a concert
festival, Bro. Wright made a re-commitment to his walk and began seeking
God's will for his life.
He was married in August of 1993 to Lisa. In June of 1994, at another
concert festival, James began to feel God's call on him to preach the Gospel.
He had never
before then entertained the idea of ministry as part of his life, especially preaching.
James ran from God and His calling for a year and a half. He
was most miserable in that time compared to any other
time in his life.
Finally, James surrendered and began a life of service to
God. He was licensed to preach in February of 1996, and ordained into the ministry in
March of 1997. Bro. Wright has been preaching since 1996, and says that it has
been one of the greatest joys he have ever known.
When reflecting on how God has chosen to use
him as his
servant, he says he is blown away. In the little time of almost seven years
he and his family have been a part of Antioch, he has seen God move in a great and new way within the
church family. "We are a growing congregation with a blend of all age groups,"
Bro. Wright stated.
"We believe in teaching and preaching God's Word as the infallible truth and
the standard for Christian Living."
Bro. Wright
and his wife have three children: Michaela, Noah, and
McKenna. He and his family have been a blessing to
our church, and we look forward to the years to come of
Bro. Wright's wisdom and discipleship as he herds his
flock.
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (NIV)
