Spring
has finally arrived. Although we are not yet
experiencing the warmest of days, we know they are on
the way. We see the signs of spring all around,
from the budding of trees to flowers bursting forth from
the ground. I may just be noticing it more this
year, but when I see those flowers I am reminded of
something so much more.
This year, I am
reminded that for those flowers to burst forth in all
their beauty and splendor, there had to be a seed, or
bulb that died in the ground, to allow them to come out.
I am also reminded of something else that takes place in
the spring: the celebration of Easter.
I hope
you will celebrate this day and see the true meaning
behind the celebrations. Just like the seed or the
bulb, Easter is about Christ dying and bursting forth
from the grave so that you and I could burst forth from
sin and stand victorious over death and the grave.
Just
as the seed or bulb had to die to produce a beautiful
flower, Christ had to die to produce an inner beauty in
you and me. Without his death and resurrection we are
without hope and lost in our current condition.
So, as you see, the beautiful flowers around you in
bloom, let them remind you of the One who died for you
and was raised from the tomb.
